CARD WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE FOLLOWING HORSES FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND SERVICE
Isaac is a 16-hand Draft Cross gelding born in 1999. He has a wonderful, active movement, great for stimulating the riders' senses, improving focus and mobilizing joints. His size made him a wonderful therapy horse for CARD's taller riders. Isaac was donated in 2007 by the Chan Family. Isaac retired in May of 2009. Before coming to CARD, he was used as a pleasure horse, and he is now happily doing the same.
Dalton is a 15.1 hand, black, Rocky Mountain gelding born in 1998. Dalton came to CARD in 2006. Dalton has a smooth lateral movement with a gentle personality. He had worked with riders with disabilities before coming to CARD, which gave him a leg up and made him a perfect addition to the program. Dalton retired in July 2008.
Merlin is a 14.2 hand, bay Welsh cob gelding born in 1985. Merlin has very active movement and a wide base of support that enhances improved balance. His spunky personality made him a favorite of riders and volunteers alike.
Merlin retired in June of 2008 to the care of his original donors and is enjoying retirement as a pet.
Santos is a 15.3 hand bay, Thoroughbred/Quarter horse cross gelding, born in 1993. He came to CARD in 2006. Santos' active stride and an anterior-posterior/rotational movement as well as his beautiful spirit gave confidence to those who rode him.
Santos retired in June of 2008 and is now a pleasure horse for two young children who are learning to ride.
May I is a 16 hand bay, Thoroughbred mare born in 1989. She came to CARD in 2005, where her active movement and quite temperament made her perfect for therapy classes. She has a narrow base which benefitted our riders who have increased tone through their hips and pelvis
May I retired in May of 2008 and is enjoying retired life hacking and doing low level dressage.
Jake is a 15 hand, liver chestnut quarter horse gelding, who was born in 1993. Jake came to CARD in the summer 2006. His small stature and good base of support made him an excellent mount for our smaller and newer riders. He was great with walk-halt transitions and his patients made him perfect for riders learning to ride independently.
Jake retired in January 2008 to the care of his donors.
Chuck is a 15.3 hand, Paint horse gelding, who was born in 1982. He came to CARD in 1987 where his quiet and calm nature made him a great fit for our rehabilitation and hippotherapy classes. Chuck's smooth stride and rhythmical movement made him perfect for therapy classes. He was trustworthy and safe which made him an ideal choice when riders were finally ready to come off the lead and control their horse independently for the first time.
Chuck retired in August of 2007 and is now a pleasure horse.
Brandy is a 15.2 hand, dark bay, Thoroughbred cross gelding, who was born in 1980. He came to CARD in 1996. He was a patient, and well-behaved therapy horse. His narrow base made him a perfect mount for riders with increased tone through their pelvis & hips.
Brandy retired in August of 2007 to his horse trainer of many years, Carolyn Wojcinski.
Quest is a 14.3 hand, chestnut Quarter horse gelding, who was born in 1984. He came to CARD in 1995 where his quiet attitude and steady stride proved to be ideal for our one-on-one hippotherapy classes. He was a great mount to boost confidence, as his small stature and understanding manner made him very approachable by tentative & new riders to the program.
Quest retired in May of 2007 and is now a pleasure horse for two young children who are learning to ride.
